Hanzee

Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 5, 2026

This policy explains what information the Hanzee app for iPhone, iPad and Android (“Hanzee”, “the app”) handles, why, and what your choices are. Hanzee is developed by Aleksy Tylkowski, an individual developer based in Poland, who is the controller of the personal data described here. You can reach me at [email protected].

In short

Information that stays on your device

Your flashcard decks, recently viewed words, writing practice progress and settings are stored only on your device. They are not sent to me or to anyone else. They may be included in your device backups (for example iCloud Backup or Google’s Android backup), which are governed by your own backup settings and Apple’s or Google’s privacy policy. Deleting the app deletes this information from the device.

Pronunciation uses the text-to-speech voices built into iOS or Android, on your device.

Information the app sends

Usage statistics

The app uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how it is used — for example which screens are opened, how long sessions last and which features are popular. This includes the app version, device model, iOS or Android version, language, an approximate country derived from your IP address, and a random identifier created for this installation of the app. It is not linked to your name, email, Apple ID or Google account. Statistics are kept no longer than 14 months.

Crash reports

If the app crashes or hits a serious error, Firebase Crashlytics sends a report with technical details: what the app was doing, the device model, iOS or Android version, free memory and storage, and a random installation identifier. Crash reports are kept for 90 days.

Remote configuration

The app uses Firebase Remote Config to receive settings (such as the limits of the free version) without an update. This uses the same random installation identifier.

Bug reports you send

If you choose to send a report from “Report a Bug”, it contains your message, your email address if you enter one, and — unless you switch it off — the app version, iOS or Android version, device model and language. It is stored in Google Cloud Firestore and used only to fix the problem and, if you left an address, to reply to you. Reports are deleted once they are no longer needed, and at the latest after two years.

Purchases

Hanzee Pro is sold through the App Store on iPhone and iPad and through Google Play on Android. Apple or Google processes the payment; I never receive your card details, your Apple ID or your Google account. To know which features you have unlocked, the app uses RevenueCat, which receives a random anonymous identifier, your purchase and subscription history for Hanzee, the store country, the app and iOS or Android version, and your IP address (used for security and to determine your region). This information is kept for as long as it is needed to provide your purchases and to meet legal and accounting obligations.

Legal bases

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, your data is processed on these bases:

What I don’t do

Your rights

You can ask for access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, ask me to restrict or stop processing it, and ask for a copy in a portable format. Write to [email protected]. Because the app has no accounts, the data is pseudonymous; I may ask for details that help find it (for example the date you sent a bug report). You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection authority — in Poland, the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO), or the authority where you live.

Deleting the app removes all information stored on your device. Your purchases stay tied to your Apple ID or Google account and can be restored at any time.

Deleting your data

Hanzee has no accounts, so there is no account to delete. To have the data the app has sent about you deleted, email [email protected] with the subject “Delete my data” and say whether you use Hanzee on iPhone, iPad or Android. If you sent a bug report, include the date and the email address you entered, so I can find it. I will confirm and delete the data within 30 days.

Children

Hanzee is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 where local law requires a higher age), and I don’t knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has sent me personal information, please contact me and I will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new date. Significant changes will also be mentioned in the app’s release notes.
